Woman dies after being attacked by tiger in New Zealand zoo

The staff member is reported to have been cleaning the enclosure at the time

A WOMAN WORKING in a New Zealand zoo has died after being attacked by a tiger.

Hamilton Zoo have confirmed the death of the woman with media reports claiming that she was attacked when the Sumatran tiger’s enclosure was being cleaned.

“This is a tragic incident. It is too early to determine exactly what’s happened,” police senior sergeant Juliet Burgess said according to TVNZ.

The broadcaster reports that there were a dozen people visiting the zoo at the time, mostly families, but none of them saw what happened.
