Here's why you can't feed hens any food you want

A student from Askeaton, and an owner of 10 hens himself, set out to find out if what you feed hens does matter.

CAN YOU FEED hens anything, or does it matter what you feed them ?

That’s what Conor Daly from Colaiste Mhuire in Askeaton – owner of 10 hens himself – wanted to find out.

His interest in science projects developed last year, and he is one of the hundreds of students taking part in the BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition this year.

At his stand he had a calliper for measuring the eggs, as well as a measuring scales. Here, he explained what type of foods he tried out as part of his project, and why it matters what you feed hens.
