1. #GONE: Garda Commissioner Martin Callinan has stepped down amid the garda whistleblower controversy, saying he made the decision to retire – rather than resign – in the best interests of An Garda Siochána and his family.

2. #BUGGING: Just hours after Callinan’s departure, the Government announced a major investigation into the taping and recording of phone calls at a large number of Garda stations which has allegedly been happening since the 1980s.

3. #RIP: Tributes have been paid to Fine Gael TD Nicky McFadden who has died at the age of 51, almost two years after she was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. Taoiseach Enda Kenny said the Dáil had been devastated by her suffering and death.

4. #PUT THE BRAKES ON: Hundreds of drivings tests have been cancelled and postponed due to industrial action by testers at centres around the country next week.

5. #INVESTIGATION: Dublin Bus is investigating a video posted on social media which allegedly shows a woman smoking crack cocaine at the back of a bus.
