1. #ROAD DEATH: A woman in her 70s has been killed, and four others injured, after a multi-vehicle collision at Strokestown, Co Roscommon.

2. #WE HAVE A PROBLEM: A total of €12.5 billion in mortgages in Ireland are in ultra-long-term arrears, according to the Central Bank.

3. #LOSSES: Mobile network company Three announced that a total of 160 jobs would be lost in Ireland – with 85 at HQ and 75 in retail locations.

4. #PLANE SAILING: One of the government’s two official jets has broken down. No decision has been made on how or whether to replace it.

5. #PIONEERING: The first Irish government minister has taken the plunge, so to speak, and done the Ice Bucket Challenge.
