HOSPITAL WORKERS HAVE said at least four people have died from suspected chlorine gas poisoning and dozens more were injured in the Syrian city of Aleppo overnight.

Images taken by activist Mahmoud Rashwani at one hospital show both adults and small children wearing oxygen masks following the attack.

Sky News reports the gas is believed to have been dropped alongside barrel bombs in the Zubdiya neighbourhood – a rebel-held part of the city.

The manager of the Al Quds hospital in Aleppo, Hazma Khatib, told Reuters they had recorded four deaths from gas poisoning and 55 injuries. Seven people were still receiving treatment.

Yesterday the Russian military said fighting will cease for three hours daily to allow humanitarian aid deliveries. This followed desperate pleas from aid workers, who said Tuesday that two million people in Aleppo had gone without running water for four days.
