Couple escape uninjured after petrol bomb is thrown at their home

The incident happened in Armagh around 3.15am.

A COUNTY ARMAGH couple escaped uninjured after a petrol bomb was thrown at their home.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the arson attack on a house in Austin Drive in Tandragee during the early hours of this morning.

It was reported that at around 3.15am a petrol bomb was thrown at the front of a house in the area.

PSNI officers and the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service attended and the fire was extinguished. Smoke damage was caused to the kitchen of the property but a man aged in his 30s and a woman aged in her 20s who were in the property at the time were not injured.

Inspector Lynsey Barr of the PSNI said:

“Police are working to establish a motive for this attack and we are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that can assist with the investigation to contact officers in Armagh quoting reference number 208 30/07/16.

“Information can also be passed anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
