A 23-YEAR-old man has been arrested by detectives in relation to dissident republican activity.
The PSNI said today that detectives from the PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch arrested the 23-year-old man from the Larne area in relation to dissident republican terrorist activity.
He has been taken to Antrim serious crime suite for interview. Today’s arrest is related to the ongoing security alert in Britannia Crescent in Larne, during which suspicious items have been recovered.
There is no information as to the nature of the recovered items at this stage.
Earlier today police said that they believe an explosion in Larne at around 11pm last night may be linked to dissident terrorist activity.
The explosion caused damage to a fence in the area. The incident is now being investigated.
