Two people arrested after suspicious ATM withdrawals

Over €90,000 cash has been seized to date in this investigation.

TWO PEOPLE HAVE been arrested after gardaí attached to the national economic crime bureau investigated significant cash withdrawals from ATMs in Dublin and Cork.

The transactions involved the use of bank cards linked to accounts in Poland and Norway.

As part of the targeted operation, gardaí located and searched a vehicle in Lucan in Co Dublin yesterday, where a “substantial quantity” of cash and multiple bank cards were recovered. A man in his early 30s was arrested.

Following his arrest, a woman in her mid-30s was arrested at a residence in Dublin.

Both are detained at a garda station in Dublin at present.

A further search was carried out at a home in Cork. Gardaí recovered additional cash, foreign currency, false identification documents, bank cards, and mobile phones. Over €90,000 in cash has been seized so far in this investigation.

Gardaí are liaising with international law enforcement agencies through Europol in relation to bank accounts in Poland and Norway.
