DR SEUSS’S ‘HORTON Hears a Who!’ has been brought to life once more with the help of a Dublin animation studio.

Netflix and Dr Seuss Enterprises have entered into a partnership to bring some of Dr Suess’s titles to the streaming platform.

Yesterday, Dr Suess’s ‘Horton!’ launched on Netflix with seven episodes now being available to stream.

The show follows the adventures of a young Horton and his best friend as they go on adventures.

Horton! is produced and animated by Brown Bag Films, which was founded in Dublin in 1994.

Brown Bag Films now has studio locations in Dublin, Toronto and Bali and Horton! is animated by the Dublin and Bali studios.

Netflix’s director of kids and preschool original series, Heather Tilert, said that Brown Bag Films had done an “incredible job” in bringing the show to life.

Horton Hears a Who! was last adapted in 2008 in a feature film starring Jim Carrey and Steve Carell.

He said Brown Bag Films is “deeply honoured to have worked on such an iconic Dr Seuss property”.

He added that it’s been a “real team effort” between Brown Bag Films’ Dublin studio, Netflix and Dr. Seuss Enterprises.

“Bringing Dr Seuss’s timeless world to life has been an incredible experience and we hope the series captures the heart, humour, and imagination that generations have loved,” said Collins.

Meanwhile, Brown Bag Film’s Theresa Mayer acted as senior producer.

She said the series is “nothing short of iconic”.

Horton! has been over two years in the making and she praised the creative leadership of Collins and art director Stephen O’Connor in “guiding our teams across the finish line”.

“The first batch of episodes is now streaming, and we hope kids – young and old – enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed making it,” she added.

And there is more Dr Suess from Brown Bag Films to come next month when The Sneetches launches on 3 November.

The Sneetches is a 45-minute-long animated special that tells the story of the Star-Belly Sneetches and Moon-Belly Sneetches, who once lived together in harmony, until they decided their differences were too great.

It is also produced at the Dublin studio and directed by Brown Bag Films’ Bronagh O’Hanlon.

Tilbert said The Sneetches is a “great introduction to a kind of family movie night for kids aged 5 to 10”.

Brown Bag Films said it is “honoured to help reimagine these iconic stories and characters for a new generation”.
