Baby girl died after being struck by attic lift built by her father

A 13-month-old girl sustained fatal head injuries after the lift malfunctioned at her home in Dublin last summer.

AN INQUEST HAS heard how a 13-month-old girl died after she was struck by a lift that her father had built in the family home.

Dublin County Coroner’s Court heard how Chrizena Johnson sustained fatal head injuries at her home in Swords when the attic lift malfunctioned and struck her on 7 July 2010. She later died of her injuries in hospital.

Her father Johnson Kurian had built the lift himself to get up and down from his attic and was in tears as he gave evidence at yesterday’s inquest.

The coroner recorded a verdict of accidental death.
