had a few offers

Remember the Balbriggan man who took a novel approach to job hunting? ... We've some good news for you

The phone was ringing with offers until 2am, he says.

REMEMBER SEAN MORONEY — the Balbriggan man so frustrated with the jobs market that he took to standing at the side of the road with a homemade sign?

Of course you do, sure we only told you about him last night…

Anyway — Sean’s had quite a bit of good news since that article went out yesterday evening.

He’s had “150, maybe 200″ calls, messages and emails in the last 24 hours or so.

In fact, the texts kept on coming until around 2am.

“I didn’t have a great night’s sleep as a result,” Sean told TheJournal.ie this evening.

Of the 150-or-so people who got in touch, just under half had offers or potential offers of work for the 36-year-old.

Already, he has two “really positive” interviews lined up for next week —  one with a major local employer, the other with a multi-national firm based a little further away.

They’re both customer-focused roles — and Sean says he’s “really looking forward” to sitting down with them to talk about what he could do.

Offers

He hasn’t really been off the phone today, he says… The offers covered everything from sales and marketing, to farming.

“One farmer — an elderly man in Limerick — rang me and said he was looking for someone to look after his farm… There was a whole range of things, really.

TheJournal.ie really did help… A lot of people referred to it.

Sean — who, you’ll recall, returned to his hometown two years ago after almost a decade in Boston— had originally planned a two-week roadside campaign.

I don’t think I’ll be doing the second week though, now that so many people have been in touch.

And he’s not counting his chickens before those big interviews either.

Tonight’s plans…

I’m here with my girlfriend. We’re watching the Late Late Toy Show, and that’s about it.

He promised to let us know how he gets on next week.

Got an offer for Sean? Email: seanmoroney52@gmail.com or call the number on his sign. (Tomorrow, maybe — he’s watching the Toy Show).

First posted 9.30pm.
