Six fire engines attend scene of blaze at car showroom in north Co Dublin
A total of 22 firefighters attended the scene using breathing apparatus.
FIREFIGHTERS ATTENDED THE scene of a large fire at an industrial unit in Ballycoolin in north Co Dublin last night.
Members of Dublin Fire Brigade responded at a 999 call and when they arrived they found ”a well developed fire with smoke drifting across the locality”.
A total of 22 firefighters attended the scene using breathing apparatus.
The fire ripped through The Engine Block, a showroom and centre for motoring enthusiasts.
In a post on its Instagram page, The Engine Block said:
“The home of Irelands car culture is gone… We don’t know what to say. Please bear with us over the coming days. Everyone is safe and that’s all that matters.”

Six fire engines including a turntable ladder and foam tender also attended the incident, a statement read.
Last night, Dublin Fire Brigade advised locals to close all windows and doors if affected by smoke from the fire.
On social media, people posted comments below lamenting the loss of The Engine Block.
One poster said described it as a “disaster” for the Irish car scene “as it’s only recently opened after years of hard work”.
