Body found in search for missing Kerry kayaker

Nealie O’Connor has been missing since last Friday.

A BODY HAS been found in the course of a search for a Kerry man who went missing while kayaking on a lake near Dingle Bay last week.

Gardaí say that a body of a male was discovered yesterday just after 3pm.

It is believed it may be that of Nealie O’Connor, the 38-year-old who went missing after setting out on his kayak on Loch Gaineamháin (White Sand Lake) at Cromane at around 3am on Friday.

The alarm was raised at 8am that morning after O’Connor had failed to return home where he lived with his partner and two-month-old daughter.

A large-scale search operation was undertaken by local gardaí and the Valentia Coast Guard.

The body of the man recovered has been taken to Kerry General Hospital where a post mortem is being carried out.
