FELINE FANS TOOK to the internet this week after a clip resurfaced of Irish actors Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal discussing their apparent dislike of cats on the Happy Sad Confused podcast.
When asked the all-important question of whether they prefer cats or dogs, Buckley said she didn’t particularly like cats and added that she told her cat-owning husband: “It’s me or the cats.”
Mescal chimed in, adding: “Fuck cats, honestly.”
The podcast clip has since gone viral – sparking plenty of debate and prompting extensive coverage and thinkpieces.
However, Buckley has since clarified the “misconception” – telling US TV host Jimmy Fallon that the reaction “really weighed on me all day” and insisting that she really does love cats. She even auditioned for Cats (2019) as, you guessed it, a cat.
