Poll: Should parents take their children on holiday during school term?

A father in the UK has made headlines for taking his daughter out of school for seven days.

THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT has said it is considering strengthening the law in relation to school attendance.

The comments were made on foot of a father winning a High Court case brought against him after he refused to pay a £120 (€150) fine for taking his daughter out of school for seven days to go on holiday.

BBC News reports that magistrates had ruled Jon Platt had no case to answer as his daughter had attended school regularly, and the High Court yesterday backed this up.

Some parents choose to bring their children on holiday during school term as it may be the only time that suits the family or it could be a lot cheaper than going during the official school holiday period.
