Citi creates 250 new jobs in Ireland

New posts for Waterford and Dublin over the coming 18 months.

US FINANCIAL SERVICES firm Citi is to create 250 new jobs in Dublin and Waterford.

Citi says that although other countries were considered for the posts, Ireland was chosen due to the calibre of its employees and IDA support, according to Citi’s country officer for Ireland, Aidan Brady.

The jobs will be added to Citi’s 2,200-strong Irish workforce over the next 18 months in the group’s global transactions division encompassing operations, funds, technology and product development.

Welcoming Citi’s announcement, Minister Batt O’Keeffe said it demonstrated that Ireland can out-perform rival locations for major global investments in this sector.

The IDA said: “Ireland’s international financial services sector is recovering and in expansion mode”.

Citi has had an Irish operation for 45 years.
