Tributes to 'dedicated and energetic' mother killed in apparent murder-suicide

Concepta Leonard (51) was found dead on Wednesday.

THE DEATH OF a 51-year-old woman in rural Fermanagh is being investigated as an apparent murder-suicide.

Concepta Leonard was found dead at a house in the Abbey Road area of Lisnaskea on Monday afternoon. Her son Conor was also found with serious stab wounds but survived the incident.

Conor is aged in his 30s and is reported to have Down Syndrome and to have raised the alarm.

A 55- year-old man was also found dead at the property. He has been named locally as Peader Phair.

PSNI officers say that are not looking of for anyone else in connection with the murder of the woman and the attempted murder of her son.

The Leonard family is well-known in local traditional music circles and Newtownbutler Comhaltas expressed its sympathies with the family earlier today.

“We will always remember Connie with great fondness for her affection, dedication and energetic outlook shown in all areas of her life; as an amazing mother, daughter, sister, music teacher and friend,” the group said in a Facebook post.

“May you rest in peace Connie, and may God give strength to Conor to get well soon and may your family find comfort in the beautiful memories you have left behind.”
