'Significant delays' to services to Heuston after train hits metal bar on track

Inbound trains to Hueston are experiencing delays of up to 75 minutes.

TRAINS TO HEUSTON are operating with “significant delays” of up to 75 minutes after a train hit a metal bar on the line.

Irish Rail confirmed that the 8.10am Newbridge to Hueston train hit a metal bar on the line near Sallins, Kildare.

“There was mechanical damage to the train as a result, the driver worked to rectify it on the site,” a spokesperson for Irish Rail said.

“Ultimately he was able to bring the train into Sallins to clear the line,” they said.

Customers were transferred to the following service.

Trains inbound to Hueston are now operating with delays of between 50 to 75 minutes. Trains leaving the station are experiencing delays of up to 40 minutes.

Irish Rail said delays are continuing to ease.
