IN COMMENTS AT a conference in Dublin yesterday, businessman Denis O’Brien gave his views on the surge in remote work seen this decade.
The telecoms billionaire claimed that many graduates “have become entitled” in relation to working at home instead of the office, with workplace policies led by HR staff “who also want to work from home”.
He also said that young people will be “isolated at home” and see their “learning curtailed” because of a lack of human interaction.
It’s not the first time O’Brien had given his strong views on the issue, having sparked a debate around it earlier this year. And of course, this whole debate neglects the many, many people who have no option but to attend work, whether emergency services, tradespeople or other jobs.
