The 24-year-old man was arrested a short time after the incident, gardaí said today.

A WOMAN IN her 60s was threatened by a burglar at her Co Donegal home last night – and a man in his 20s has since been arrested by investigating gardaí

Gardaí at Milford, Co Donegal, are investigating the burglary, which occurred at approximately 3.45am this morning at Kilmacrennan, Co Donegal.

During the incident, a male entered the home of a 69-year-old female who was alone in the house at the time. Gardaí say the man forced his way into the woman’s bedroom, threatened her and demanded cash. The raider fled the scene empty-handed.

The woman did not sustain any injuries during the burglary.

A short time later, a 24-year-old man was arrested in connection with this incident, and is currently detained at Letterkenny Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Investigations are continuing, said gardaí this morning.
