RTÉ's Sean Whelan is going back to London
Whelan is replacing Tommy Meskill as RTÉ’s London Correspondent.
RTÉ’S SEAN WHELAN has taken up the role of its London correspondent for the second time.
He is replacing Tommy Meskill, who left the role to become the co-presenter of RTÉ News.
Whelan was the Washington correspondent for the broadcaster for the past four years, a role taken on by Jackie Fox in March.
Before that, he was the London correspondent. He left the post in 2022 to take up his previous US-based role and was replaced by John Kilraine in London.
Whelan will return to reporting from London immediately, RTÉ said.
Whelan, who joined the organisation in 1991, said he’s looking forward to returning to London “at yet another pivotal moment for UK politics”.
“Having been in covid lockdown during most of my previous posting there, I’m also really looking forward to now being able to report on an even wider range of stories from all over Great Britain,” he said.
His appointment followed an internally advertised recruitment process, RTÉ said.
