A SPAR SHOP in Co Antrim plans to open tomorrow morning “as normal” despite a car crashing through its front door this afternoon.

At around 12pm, the PSNI attended to a single-vehicle collision in the Parkhall area Antrim town.

A PSNI spokesperson said it had been reported that a car had driven into the front of a shop.

The spokesperson said no one was injured but added that “significant damage was caused to the front of the store”.

The PSNI has appealed for any witnesses to the collision, or anyone with CCTV or other footage, to make contact.

The shop in question closed “to undertake essential repairs” but confirmed that all staff and customers were “safe and uninjured”.

In a later post to social media, the stores owners acknowledged that it was a “very traumatic incident for all involved”.

“Our team has worked throughout the day alongside contractors to secure a temporary repair to the entrance, and we are pleased to say that the shop will open as normal tomorrow morning,” they added.

The shop thanked its “fantastic staff and the contractors who responded so quickly and worked hard to make the premises safe and ready to reopen”.

They have asked that customers take “extra care when entering the shop tomorrow” while the repairs to the door and lobby area are only temporary until a permanent fix can be completed.
