Drugs, knives, a crossbow, guns and ammunition found in early morning Dublin city search

Gardaí found a lever action rifle, a crossbow, two disassembled handguns, a silencer, an air pistol, 553 shotgun shells, various types of ammunition and three knives.

GARDAÍ HAVE ARRESTED a man who was found with a cache of firearms, gun parts, ammunition and a quantity of suspected heroin and cannabis. 

The man was in a car stopped by gardaí attached to the DMR North Central Drugs Unit from Store Street in Beaumont, Dublin in the early hours of this morning.

A garda spokesman said that the firearms and drugs were found by officers when searched the vehicle. 

“Among the items seized were a lever action rifle, a crossbow, two disassembled handguns, a silencer, an air pistol, 553 shotgun shells, various types of ammunition and three knives.

“Drugs seized at the scene included crack cocaine and cocaine with an estimated value of €2,000, diamorphine valued at approximately €500 and a small quantity of cannabis.

“One adult male in his late teens was arrested and is currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939 at a Garda Station in the Dublin Region.

This seizure forms part of Operation Tara which is part of a country wide anti-drugs policing strategy.
