Dublin Port Tunnel reopens after Palestine protest but drivers still face significant delays

The situation has caused serious traffic congestion in the surrounding area and the city centre.

LAST UPDATE | 2 Oct

TRAFFIC HAS BEGUN moving through the southbound lane of Dublin’s Port Tunnel following a demonstration in support of the people of Palestine, but congestion is still affecting much of the city centre and areas nearby.

Transport Infrastructure Ireland said traffic metering was in place and that driver should expect delays.

RTÉ Radio reported the closure in a traffic update earlier this evening, adding that the demonstration had cause “multiple delays”.

The situation has caused serious traffic congestion in the surrounding area and the city centre.

The broadcast had advised motorists to avoid Sandymount, Ringsend, Irishtown, Fairview, Drumcondra and the North Circular Road area.

Areas of the city centre drivers are being advised to avoid are Pearse St, Sheriff St, Gill St, Saville Place, Amiens St and Dorset St, which are all being affected by the tunnel closure.
