Man dies after falling from a height on DART station platform in Dún Laoghaire

Services have resumed at the station this afternoon.

A MAN HAS died after falling from a height onto a platform at a Dart station in Dún Laoghaire.

Staff were alerted at approximately 1.50pm today about the man’s fall onto the northbound platform at the station on Crofton Road.

In a statement from Irish Rail, a spokesperson outlined that staff tried to assist the member of the public but to no avail.

Services stopped for a period this afternoon as emergency services continued work at the scene before resuming after 3.30pm.

“The emergency services were immediately alerted, and trains suspended through the station, with the relevant area of platform cordoned off,” the Irish Rail spokesperson said.

“Tragically, despite efforts of station staff and emergency services personnel, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Our deepest sympathies are with the loved ones of the deceased.”
