EIGHT PEOPLE ARE IN garda custody this morning in connection with a double murder investigation in Limerick.

Seven people, four men and three women, were arrested on Monday after two bodies were discovered in a house at O’Malley Park, Limerick.

Yesterday, gardaí arrested a woman in her mid-30s, the eighth person to be held in the inquiry.

Gardaí issued a statement this morning saying that one of the men has been released without charge, but another man, 49, was arrested in Limerick city this morning.

Breda Waters, 28, and Des Kelly, 23, were found shot dead on Sunday morning. They had recently started dating.

Kelly is believed to have been the intended target of the attack. He and Waters, a mother of three, had only recently begun dating. Kelly had convictions for assault and dangerous driving causing death.

His sister and her six-month-old baby were also in the house at the time of the shooting, and she told gardaí she heard the shots and found the two bodies.

The Limerick Leader reported yesterday that 150 gardaí and three forensic units are involved in the investigation.
