THE TAOISEACH IS from Mayo.
Mayo are in both the All-Ireland senior and minor finals today. As guest of honour, the question was whether Enda Kenny would remain neutral, remembering that he is the leader of the nation, or succumb to good old fashioned GAA tribalism.
While he resisted the urge to paint his face or wear a Mayo jersey, the Taoiseach left nobody in any doubt as to his allegiances when he was introduced to the crowd prior to the Mayo v Tyrone clash in the minor final.
Donning a green and red tie, Kenny showed that he will be urging both Enda Gilvarry’s minor side and James Horan’s seniors to a double win today.
