Garda raid yields boxes of fakes DVDs and cosmetics valued at €70,000

The seizure was made in Cavan yesterday.

GARDAÍ IN THE border region have seized counterfeit DVDs and beauty products they have valued at €70,000.

The seizure was made after a planned search of a house on Main Street in Cavan yesterday.

Gardaí say that the multi-agency operation comes as part of ongoing investigations into the criminal distribution of counterfeit goods.

The Irish Recorded Music Association and the Office of the Revenue Commissioners are among those who have been involved in the investigations.

Two people were arrested at the scene of the raid, a man aged 32 years and a woman aged 36 years.

Both of them are being held at Ballyconnell Garda Station where they can be held for up to 24 hours.
