Humans And The Natural World: Drop into the Natural History Museum on Saturday where there’ll be an array of artefacts – from antlers to wood and clay – that humans used to make things way before plastic was invented!

Busk At Mitchelstown: This weekend the streets of Mitchelstown will be filled with music as buskers from all over the country perform. For kids there’ll be hair braiders and balloons and face painters galore.

Wizard of Oz: A firm Cork institution, the Cork Opera House summer show is never to be missed – and this year even more than others. The Wizard Of Oz is a fantastical interpretation and a brilliant day out for the whole family.

SprÓg at Spraoi: This weekend the Garter Lane Arts Centre in Waterford will transform into a riot of kid-based art activities as the children’s arm of Spraoi festival takes hold. This is a brilliant weekend, with loads of crafty activities to get stuck into.

Durrow Scarecrow Festival: As the festival returns for its ninth year, the fields of Durrow in County Laois will be resplendent with scarecrows this weekend. And when you’ve seen enough creative scarecrows, there are all kinds of family-themed high jinx to keep the kids entertained too.
