Windsor Motors

Irish dealership Windsor Motors has now sold two cars to online-only buyers

Sean Tackaberry of Windsor reckons it’s the start of a new trend.

ONLINE SHOPPING IS big business in Ireland. It is estimated that 2.89 million of us shop online and we spend €5 billion a year. But it seems that some people spend more than others.

Irish dealership Windsor Motors has sold not one, but two cars online via its website so far. With 15 dealerships nationwide and an independent used car outlet in Dublin, it’s not as if there’s a lack of bricks-and-mortar stores to choose from. Nevertheless, two customers decided to purchase their new cars online, without having to set foot inside a dealership.

Windsor Motors recently underwent a large rebranding and website revamp. Speaking about the website, Seán Tackaberry, Digital Marketing Manager for the Windsor Motors said:

When we launched our new website, one of the main focuses was to give visitors the option to buy with confidence the car they want, when they want. So we were delighted to be, as far as we know, the first dealership or retailer in Ireland to sell a car online. Twice. We’ve sold more than one!

The first sale was paid for in full online and collected from the customer’s preferred dealership. It was only after paying that the customer took their new car, a used Opel Corsa, for a test drive. According to Seán, the customer knew they had made the right choice.

The second car purchased online was by a customer who was working abroad and wanted a car for their return. They viewed the car, a used BMW X1, on the Windsor Motors website and left a €1,000 deposit. Windsor Motors delivered the car to Cork and collected the balance on arrival.

Both of these cars were Windsor Certified used cars. This means the used cars have gone through a 149-point car check test, a history check and come with a 12-month warranty.

The automotive sector is currently experiencing a digital revolution with many customers spending hours researching cars online before even looking in a dealership. Seán says that he absolutely expects buying cars online to happen a lot more often.

Our website is like another dealership, without the free tea and Nespresso, and it’s open 24 hours a day, with 24 hour live chat support. We can value your trade-in online, take a deposit, take full payment, and organise collection or delivery. It’s a simple process and if you don’t like the car on arrival we are more than happy to refund the deposit so customers can have the confidence that they will not be out of pocket.
