Irish fishing vessel detained off Wexford coast

The vessel was detained by the Naval Service at 8.30pm this evening off the coast of Wexford.

THE NAVAL SERVICE Vessel L.É. ORLA detained an Irish registered fishing vessel approximately 50 nautical miles south of Hook Head, Co Wexford earlier today.

The detention was in relation to an alleged breach of fishing regulations.

The vessel was escorted by the L.É. ORLA to Dunmore East, arriving in port at 8.30pm this evening. The vessel is currently in the process of being handed over to gardaí.

This brings to 507 total vessels boarded by the Naval Service in 2013, 713 warnings issued and this is the 6th vessel detained by the Naval Service so far this year.
