Five people arrested in operation targeting the IRA

They will appear in court this evening.

FIVE PEOPLE HAVE been arrested as part of an operation targeting dissident republican activity, namely the IRA in the Dublin area.

Four men and one woman were arrested in the Dublin 15 area on Saturday afternoon and are being detained in various er of Garda stations in the Dublin region.

The group, who are aged from their early 40s to late 60s, are being held under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

Three of those arrested have addresses in Belfast. The five people will appear at a special sitting of the Special Criminal Court at 5 pm today to be charged.

Gardaí said they will continue to liaise closely with the Police Service of Northern Ireland in relation to this investigation.
