Four charged and due in court after gardaí seizure of €7 million worth of cannabis from Kildare

FOUR PEOPLE ARRESTED after gardaí found €7 million worth of cannabis at a property in Athy have since been charged.

The four adults, three men and one woman, are due to appear before a special sitting of Naas District Court today at 6pm.

The cannabis was found as part of ongoing investigations under Operation Tara when gardaí yesterday conducted a series of planned searches in Co Kildare.

Four individuals were arrested at the scene. These were three men (two in their 30s and one in his 40s), as well as one woman in her 20s.

All four are currently detained at garda stations in the east.

The seized drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

A Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed and an incident room has been established at Carlow Garda Station.

Gardaí said investigations are ongoing.
