In Irish and in Scottish Gaelic, ‘bod’ means ‘penis’. So by leaving the accent off the ‘o’, the final line in the sign means:
The doorway to the beauty of Penis Island.

Local councillor Len Scouller told the Daily Record sign makes them all look “bloody stupid”:
I’m not a Gaelic speaker but I would apologise to people who are Gaelic speakers and we will rectify it right away.
