Man charged over alleged patrol car ramming that injured two gardaí in Monaghan

Two gardaí were injured during the incident.

GARDAÍ HAVE CHARGED a man in connection with an incident that saw a patrol car allegedly rammed in Co Monaghan on Thursday.

The man, aged in his 20s, is expected to appear before a special sitting of Trim District Court at 3pm on Saturday, 18th April 2026.

During the course of the incident, a female garda sustained injuries and remains under care at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.

A male garda, who was also injured, has been discharged from hospital to continue his recovery.

Investigating gardaí are appealing for information regarding a dark grey Audi A6 with northern registration plates.

Anyone who may have seen this vehicle in the vicinity of the R184, between Ballybay and Clontibret or surrounding roads, or any driver in that area between 11am and 2pm with dashcam or other video footage, is asked to contact Gardaí.
