Crime figures show an overall increase in the number of burglaries over the past decade.

GARDAÍ THIS WEEK warned members of the public to be extra vigilant following a recent spate of burglaries.

Nationally, Ireland has seen an overall increase in the number of burglaries in the past 10 years, with Dublin among the worst hit areas.

As reported by TheJournal.ie, analysis released as part of Operation Thor, the Garda Síochána’s new anti-crime strategy, indicates that burglaries are most common between the hours of 5pm and 10pm during winters.

The data is corroborated by a new breakdown of crime figures, published on this website today, showing that the fourth and first quarters of the year are when your home is most at risk of being targeted.
