Four-year-old boy at centre of 'Hope for Cian' campaign has passed away

“Fly high our beautiful boy where there will be no more suffering or pain.”

THE YOUNG BOY at the centre of the ‘Hope for Cian’ campaign has passed away.

Cian McDonnell Lynch, from Carlanstown in Co Meath, suffered from a rare genetic condition called Dyskeratosis Congenita.

His family set up the Hope for Cian campaign to raise almost €1 million needed to pay for a double lung treatment in Boston that was his only hope of surviving.

However, tonight his family broke the news that he has died, saying he is “with the angels now”.

The four-year-old was admitted to Crumlin hospital last week to have a liver biopsy and yesterday a message was posted on the Hope for Cian Facebook page saying he was in a “critical condition in ICU.”

Tonight his family posted this heartfelt message:

Our beautiful boy is with the angels now. He fought so hard. Heaven is so lucky to have him. We are broken hearted. His Mammy, Daddy and big sister Chloe held his hand until the end. Fly high our beautiful boy where there will be no more suffering or pain.
