Hotel staff held at gunpoint during early-morning robbery

The armed robbery occurred at the Mellon Country Hotel at 5am today.

A GROUP OF armed criminals made off with a sum of cash from an Omagh hotel early this morning after holding a member of staff at gunpoint.

At about 5am, three men in possession of what is believed to be a shotgun, entered the Mellon Country Hotel and ordered an employee to hand over the money.

Detectives from the PSNI have issued an appeal for information about the incident on the Beltany Road, between Omagh and Newtownstewart.

Anyone who was travelling along that stretch between 4.30am and 5.30am and saw anything suspicious, or witnessed any vehicles taking off at speed, are asked to contact local police.
