THE AFTERMATH OF Tuesday night’s violence – which forced people to flee their homes as multiple cars and homes were set alight – is visible across the streets of Belfast this morning.

Emergency services attended up to 62 incidents after anti-immigration demonstrations took place in the wake of a serious knife attack in the city.

A Glider bus was set alight, Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service officers had to remove residents from houses after they caught fire and businesses were attacked by groups of masked young men.

Political leaders have criticised Tuesday night’s violent scenes.

Northern Ireland’s First Minister Michelle O’Neill condemned the “outright thuggery”, while Northern Ireland Secretary Hilary Benn condemned the disorder for “only damaging communities and putting innocent lives at risk”.
