Pro-Palestinian activists have gathered on Dublin’s main thoroughfare to protest against Israel’s interception of an Irish boat trying to break the naval blockade on Gaza.

PROTESTERS HAVE GATHERED on O’Connell Street this evening to demonstrate against Israel’s interception of the MV Saoirse as it tried to reach the Gaza strip.

The ship was part of a two-boat flotilla, also including the Canadian boat Tahrir, trying to break Israel’s naval blockade.

Protesters have called for the Government to intervene to ensure the safety of those on board the two vessels.

Those demonstrating in Dublin this evening are carrying banners calling for a boycott of Israel and justice for Palestine.

People Before Profit TD Richard Boyd Barrett and Socialist Party Leader Joe Higgins addressed the crowds who gathered at The Spire.
