FROM OUTSIDE, THE JOBBIO headquarters are difficult to spot amidst the bustle of Baggot Street, behind an unmarked doorway wedged between a Boots and a menswear shop. But for what the entrance lacks in grandeur, the interior compensates in style.
Jobbio was set up four years ago by John and Stephen Quinn. From the very beginning, the brothers’ goal was to totally revolutionise the job-seeking market. The site put users in control of their own data, connecting applicants and businesses without the need for CVs.
The Quinns had discovered a gap in the market and a truly global opportunity. They now power more than 250,000 applications a month for more than 7,000 global companies. Following an investment round of €15 million in 2017, the company entered into the US market. Jobbio now operates in Dublin, London and New York.
Despite doubling its Dublin workforce in 2017, Jobbio has maintained a fun, friendly and sociable work environment. This is clear upon arrival at the office, as visitors are greeted in a bright and spacious lobby, where a pool table takes centre stage.
Each Jobbio department has an open plan design, encouraging cooperation and communication between teams. The contemporary chic white desks and walls provide a comfortable contrast to old fashioned yet elegant decor, including chandeliers and a marble fireplace.
Littered throughout the office is evidence of a company encouraging employee happiness at every opportunity. There are bean bags in meeting rooms, a communal canteen, a staff library, potted plants and yoga classes.
As if this wasn’t enough, Jobbio has its own team of staff volunteers to ensure staff are content. The company organises a series of monthly events for staff to enjoy, such as a wine tasting event in February and a ‘secret cinema’ night in March.
These social activities coincide with weekly scheduled events. Every Monday at 1pm, 15 minutes of meditation takes place in the boardroom. The following day, a yoga class is organised for staff as well (which is often attended by Stephen the CEO).
Employer Branding Manager Anna O’Shea has been working in Jobbio for nearly three years, and has seen the company expand massively during her time here. Jobbio’s workplace culture and atmosphere is something that she particularly loves about her job:
We generally try to maintain a healthy office environment, with fresh fruit, yoga, meditation and organised runs. On Fridays we let loose with beer, pizza and loads of treats.
She adds: “We’re a young, energetic team and we’re constantly expanding. We try to organise loads of activities to keep the team motivated and welcome new colleagues.”
Jobbio is currently hiring a variety of roles in cities like London, San Francisco. Check current roles here.
