Irishman admits stabbing wife up to 50 times after dispute

Harry Ringwood from Wexford told police that he then tried to take his own life.

AN IRISHMAN HAS admitted to stabbing his wife to death in Lutry, Switzerland.

Harry Ringwood originally from Enniscorthy in Co Wexford was found lying unconscious alongside the body of his wife, 46-year-old Galina Shevchenko, on Monday.

The 48-year-old has admitted to police that he stabbed his wife up to 50 times.

He spoke to the inspectors of the Security Police and the magistrate in charge of the investigation.

Swiss authorities released an official statement after speaking to Ringwood:

“The husband of the woman found dead in her apartment in Lutry on 23 March 2015 admitted to the murder of his wife.

This man has admitted killing his wife by stabbing her 50 times. He acted after a dispute with his wife. He then tried to take his own life.

The pair were discovered by a builder who had arrived to carry out work on the first floor apartment on Grand Rue 2, Lutry.

Ringwood was treated in hospital for his injuries. He will now await his trial in prison.
