Young man killed after jeep hits car and crashes into concrete fence in field

The accident happened in the early hours of this morning.

A YOUNG MAN died when the jeep he was driving struck a car and crashed into a field in Roscommon.

It happened at Coolteige Cross at around 1.20 this morning.

The jeep hit a concrete fence in the field.

The 28-year-old driver was the only person in the jeep.

A man (23) and a woman (32) were in the car that was hit but they received no injuries.

The driver of the jeep was removed to Roscommon County Hospital.

The road was closed to facilitate a Garda forensic examination but has now reopened.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact Roscommon Garda Station on 090 – 6638341, the Garda Confidential Line 1-800-666-111 or any Garda Station.
