FORMER US PRESIDENT Joe Biden is publishing a book about his four years in the White House, as well as why he decided to withdraw from the presidential election in 2024.

Promise Me, America will chart the beginning of Biden’s administration after he won the 2020 election against current president Donald Trump, being inaugurated in the aftermath of the 6 January storming of Capitol Hill by Trump supporters.

The book promises to examine Biden’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic, his accomplishments and shortcomings, and the “deeply agonising” calculation behind pulling out of the presidential race in 2024.

In a promotional video accompanying the book’s announcement, Biden said since retiring, he has been spending time with his family and receiving treatment for cancer, as well as working on the 448-page book.

“I’ve written a book about my time as president,” he said. “It’s about the challenges we faced as a nation, about the decisions I made and why I made them.”

He continued: “Most of all, it’s about my faith in the promise of America.”

The 83-year-old’s book, which is to be published in November, follows the publication of vice-president Kamala Harris’s 2025 book 107 Days, which charted Biden’s departure from the race and her “chaotic” presidential campaign.
