Man in Kerry crash is 78th person to die on Irish roads in 2013

Gardaí have urged drivers to slow down and be careful on roads this weekend.

A MAN IN his 30s died following a serious road crash in Kerry yesterday evening.

The driver was fatally injured when he lost control of his van and it hit a tree on the L3025 near Beaufort at 7.15pm. He was removed to Kerry General Hospital in Tralee, where he was later pronounced dead.

He was the only occupant of the vehicle.

The road has now been reopened after forensic examinations. An appeal for witnesses has been made and anyone with information is asked to contact the Killarney garda station on 064 667 1160.

The victim was the 78th person to die on Irish roads this year.
