Animals burn to death in Limerick barn fire

The fire broke out in a barn near Doon in the early hours of the morning.

A NUMBER OF animals have reportedly burned to death in a hay barn fire in Co Limerick.

Two bullocks are understood to have become trapped and perished in the flames.

The Limerick Leader reports that units from Cappamore Fire Station were dispatched to the scene where they battled the blaze for five hours.

A Garda spokesman confirmed to TheJournal.ie that officers attended a fire at an outhouse in the early hours on 28 September.

“Gardaí were called to the scene of a fire incident at a barn at 1.10 am near Cappamore ,” he said.

At the time further investigation of the barn was impossible as the fire was still smouldering.

The shed is located on the Doon to Oola road.
