Inmate at Limerick prison found 'in pool of blood' in showers

The man is believed to have been beaten up by another prisoner.

AN INMATE AT Limerick Prison is being treated for serious head injuries after being beaten up in the showers at the weekend.

A source said the man was found “in a pool of blood” in the shower area on Sunday afternoon. The 21-year-old was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

It is understood a suspect, another prisoner, has been identified.

Both gardaí and the governor of the prison are investigating the assault.
