The money. So much money. London Metropolitan Police
Mo Money Mo Problems

Police found $8.5 million in a cupboard in London (but it could be fake)

That’s a whole lotta cash.

SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE, IS waking up substantially poorer this morning.

Police in London have seized $8.5 million dollars (around €6.2 million) from a cupboard at a flat in east London.

The money was found by bailiffs who were executing a warrant to recover money at the flat in the prestigious Wards Wharf area.

There are reports that a television crew making a documentary about bailiffs was present at the discovery.

However, it’s still not clear whether or not the cash is real – the London Metropolitan Police said they are awaiting authentication of the US currency.

A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of money laundering and has been released on bail until mid-August pending further inquiries.

Police detectives said they are investigating the matter.
