Louth teen seriously injured after he was flung from a truck in Australia

A teenager from Co Louth is in a serious condition in hospital after a car accident in Australia.

CHRISTOPHER CAROLAN FROM Carlingford, Co Louth suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries when he was flung from a fast moving truck in the early hours of Saturday morning in Murrayville, Australia.

The incident happened when the driver of the truck veered into the edge of the road and swiped several trees, which ejected the 19-year-old man from the vehicle.

He was airlifted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.

The driver, a 23-year-old and another passenger, also aged 19 were not injured in the collision.

Victoria police are continuing with their investigations.

Carolan  moved to Australia last month. Known to his friends as Christy, he and his family were prayed for at St. Michael’s Church, Carlingford on Sunday morning.

A spokesperson for the Department of Foreign Affairs told TheJournal.ie that they were providing consular assistance to his family.
