Pat Rabbitte: 'I apologise if I bit anyone this morning'

Fianna Fáil’s Dara Calleary suggested the Communications Minister was “doing a Luis Suarez on it”.

IF THERE IS one thing that TDs like to do it’s give the impression that they are down with the kids.

So when Fianna Fáil’s Dara Calleary tried to get a rise out of Communications Minister Pat Rabbitte this morning he kept it topical.

Noting that this would more than likely be the last time that Rabbitte does the Dáil’s Order of Business before the Cabinet reshuffle next week, Calleary suggested there was ‘a bite’ to Rabbitte’s answers during the preceding Leaders’ Questions.

“Judging by the bite in your responses you’re kind of doing a Luis Suarez on it,” Calleary joked.

He even wondered if the next Labour might impose a “30-game ban” as Uruguayan striker Suarez has received for his recent indiscretion at the World Cup.

A smiling Rabbitte responded that he was a Liverpool fan and added: “I apologise if I bit anyone this morning.”
